Yesterday our school competed in the annual tournament, at Amanzimtoti High School, against Laddsworth Primary School. During their tour, Laddsworth invites local schools to play against their senior soccer, netball, rugby, hockey and chess teams.

Our learners always thoroughly enjoy this tournament as it gives them a chance to play against a school outside of the Durban area, thereby gaining import skills as well as making new friends in the process.

The tournament started at 12pm with soccer. Our soccer team lost 1 – 0, however for a team who has had little to no practice together we can be proud of their performance. The netball girls were up next after a neck on neck match DHPS lost 5 – 4, but they gave Laddsworth a run for their money.

The Rugby Boys were the stars of the day after 4 tries and a conversion we came away with a 22 – 12 win. Our Hockey girls played last after a gruelling game we lost 3 – 0 to Laddsworth. Our chess team lost 4 games, our youngest player a grade 4 learner played very well ending the 5th game with a draw.

After a long and busy day our learners went home having gained much experience. We would like to thank all the coaches and teachers involved in making yesterday a success.
